Qelqanqa
Qelqanqa is an indigenous community of the Andes, located in the valley of the Patacancha River, belonging to the district of Ollantaytambo, province of Urubamba, in Cusco. It is rich in flora and fauna, with 60 species of birds and more than 700 species of plants. In Qelqanqa there are still direct descendants of the last Incas, which can be corroborated by the current surnames of the locals, such as Sinchi, Huamán, Yupanqui, Quespe, among others.
Experiential Tourism
We create memorable travel experiences for independent visitors, families and small groups. Come and experience traditional Andean life with the Quechuas (music, dance, gastronomy, handicrafts and rituals to Mother Earth). Connect with the last Inca dynasty.
Mystical Tourism
These ceremonies are a little aways from the village to ensure quiet, piece and tranquility to better connect to the elements.
Enjoy, feel Patchamama on the way to the ceremony ensuring the most beneficial energies for you.
BOUTIQUE
Since 2021, we train and work with Andean Quechua weavers who live more than 4,000 meters above sea level, in order to preserve their ancestral techniques and revalue their work through a fair price.
Focusing on iconographic designs, woven with alpaca fiber, dyed 100% naturally with native plants (chillca, sacha paracay, kulli, among other plants), we exhibit and sell these unique pieces in our boutique. Thanks to your purchase, these communities are increasingly closer to fair and dignified opportunities as we know.
The community is 42 km from Ollantaytambo. It can be reached by land transport only since 2018 only. During the journey by car from Ollantaytambo you will travel in the Andes during sunrise…
Ollantaytambo, you will be accompanied by a professional guide, Roger Huamán, a native of the community.
There are several ways of writing the word Qelganga in Qechua, for example: on Google Maps it is written as: Kelkanka.
Local Stay
You will spend a unique experience with local families, who will be in charge of accommodation and food services.
You will stay in a private, typical village house, with bathroom and shower. The families will prepare breakfast, lunch and dinner with local products.
