TOUR ITINERARY

Day 1: Cusco (3,300 m.a.s.l.) - Cloud Forest (1,700 m.a.s.l.) - Pilcopata Lodge (600 m.a.s.l.) We will leave Cusco early in the morning in one of our vehicles. We will drive through interesting valleys between the Andes mountains and picturesque rural communities. We will visit the pre-Inca tombs of the Lupaca culture and then stop in Paucartambo, a beautiful colonial town, and visit the interesting town museum. On the way we will have lunch in the cloud forest. We will continue our descent through the cloud forest, an area rich in endemic species, such as the spectacled bear and the cock of the rock, the Peruvian national bird that performs a unique courtship ritual. We will also be able to observe orchids, bromeliads, ferns, etc. We will continue to observe the spectacular nature throughout our journey until we arrive at our lodge, Pilcopata Inn, where we will spend our first night. Day 2: Pilcopata - Amazon manu Lodge (450 m.a.n.) We will have an early breakfast and then go on a hike, during which we will be able to observe the forest fauna, such as monkeys and birds. Afterwards, we will visit a coca plantation and a wildlife rescue centre. After this, we will travel to Puerto Atalaya, located on the banks of the Alto Madre de Dios River at 500 meters above sea level. There we will start our descent by boat to observe the enormous diversity of bird species, such as herons, vultures, cormorants, etc. until we arrive at Amazon Manu Lodge. In the afternoon we will visit Machuwasi Lake, where we will explore rafts to observe birds, such as the prehistoric hoatzin and, with luck, other animals such as monkeys and capybaras. Then we will take a night walk through the forest in search of insects and amphibians. Overnight at the lodge. Day 3: Amazon Manu Lodge (450 m.a.s.l.) Very early in the morning, we will board our boat and head to the macaw clay lick, a wall along the river bank where different species of parrots, such as the blue-headed parrot, the white-eyed parakeet, the chestnut-fronted macaw, among others, gather every morning. Here they eat clay, which is rich in minerals and helps them to digest and eliminate toxins from the body. Afterwards, we will return to our lodge for a delicious breakfast. Then we will take a 2 to 3 hour walk through the forest. We will return to the lodge for lunch and then rest or swim in the river. After lunch. Ziplining: Our guests at Amazon Manu Lodge have the opportunity to appreciate a unique and breathtaking view of the rainforest as they fly through the jungle canopy between platforms built high in the trees. All equipment used is of high quality and safe. After gliding at high speed through the treetops of the incredible Amazon rainforest, you will be able to rappel 25 metres to the ground. After the night walk, we will have dinner and spend the night at the lodge. Day 4: Amazon manu Lodge - Cusco After breakfast, we will head to Atalaya and then board our boat back to Puerto Atalaya where our car will be waiting for us to return to Cusco. We will have lunch on the way back to Cusco, and arrive around 5:30 p.m. at 18:30.
