TOUR DESCRIPTION

Tour Location: located in the pampa of Maras in the northeast of the Maras District, Urubamba Province, department of Cusco. Tour type: Half day tour Start time / End time: Pick up is at 8 am and arrival in Cusco 4:00 pm approximately. Consideration: Remember comfortable shoes, water and camera. Highlights: Maras salt mines and cultivation laboratory of Moray and archaeological centre of Chinchero.

TOUR ITINERARY

ITINERARY: Day 1: ollantaytambo - moray - salt mines - chinchero - cusco. Our tour begins in Ollantaytambo in the central square at 8:45 am and then we will head towards the archaeological centre of Moray. During the trip we will cross the sacred valley passing through Yanahuara Urubamba and then the detour to Maras we will arrive at the viewpoint of the entire sacred valley where we will have a spectacular view of the mountains, the snow-capped Veronica and the snow-capped Chicon. Then we will visit the archaeological centre of Moray where we will visit approximately 1 hour and 20 minutes where the guide will tell you about the history, importance and development. At the end of our visit we will go to the salt mines which are located approximately 35 minutes from Moray. The visit in this place will take approximately 1 hour where we will appreciate the salt wells which are around 5000 wells from where the local people extract the salt and elaborate salt based products such as chocolates among other products. Next we will visit Chinchero which is 3,754 meters above sea level (28 km from Cusco) and is the village you will see on your way to the Sacred Valley of the Incas. It is a welcoming place with white adobe houses, small cobbled streets, colonial arches and inhabitants who still wear their traditional dress. Nowadays, it is recognized and appreciated by visitors thanks to the quality of its textile handicrafts, its market and its workshops where they present the traditional process of weaving. Finally, our tour will end in Cusco around 4:30 pm.
