TOUR DESCRIPTION

These are the characteristics of the QELQANQA Llama Trek Tour that you should know before starting this wonderful adventure: Location of the Tour: It is located in the district of Ollantaytambo, province of Urubamba, Cusco. Type of Tour: experiential tourism/Trekking / Mystical, cultural, adventure,coexistence. Good for: Those in moderate physical condition, families. Difficulty: Moderate. It is not a technical hike, but the altitude may affect some people. Consideration: Since you are trekking at altitude, this is one of our cooler treks. Be prepared to wear warm clothing. Season: Open all year round, from January to December.

TOUR ITINERARY

Itinerary Day 1 Ollantaytambo - Yauri cunca pass - QELQANQA community - activities (pachamanca making, handicrafts, offering to mother earth, alpaca festivity). 7:00 - 9:45 pick up at your hotel and transfer to the QELQANQA community. 9:45 - 13:00 We will meet the families. We will have a reception with music and ancestral dance, typical costumes very typical of the place and we will have a tasting of mates with natural products. We will also participate in the preparation of pachamanca, one of the traditional dishes of the community. Demonstration of the weaving process of alpaca wool, dyeing with natural pigments, spinning, elaboration of handicrafts, iconographic description. Sharing lunch (pachamanca) with all-natural local products. 13:00 - 13:30 short break to digest the food. 13:30 - 15:30 we will go for a short walk of 25 minutes to the place where the ceremony to mother earth and the festivity of the animals (alpacas) will take place. The activity will be directed by a shaman and the families. 15:30 - 17:00 return to the local houses, exchange of culture with the families (way of living, language, socializing with families). 18:30 - 19:30 share dinner with the families. Day 2. Qelqanqa - trek with llamas - abra yurac cocha - cochayoc. Early in the morning at 6:30 am we will have a local breakfast. After breakfast we will start the trek with the llamas who will transport the luggage of the tourists in the direction of Cochayoc approximately 12 km. Lunch will be exactly near a lagoon with a spectacular view. On the way we will appreciate beautiful panoramic views and interpret the flora and fauna of the place. After lunch we will continue our hike, at approximately 4:30 pm we will be in the community of Cochayoc. We will have dinner and spend the night in a local house. Day 3. Cochayoc - rosaspata - lares hot springs - calca. 6:00 am breakfast, then we will go to the thermal baths of lares, with the llamas who will transport the luggage of the tourist. the walk will be approximately 6 hours to the village of lares 14km. the walk will be relaxed all the way downhill and some flat parts. approximately 11:00 am we will arrive at the thermal baths of lares where you can take a break and relax in the medicinal waters that this place offers. Half day we will have a farewell lunch with all the staff. Approximately 4:30 pm we will take the private transport to Calca or Ollantaytambo both trips will take approximately 2 hours and 30 minutes.
